Dear Amherst Residents,
I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve the town I love as an Amherst Town Councilmember. You elected me because I promised to apply my experience and expertise as an accountant and businessman to the issues faced by our community. My running mates and I immediately followed through on two of our main goals for this term by reducing Town property taxes and letting voters determine the size of the Board.
During my term in office, I have been proud to apply my skills and efforts as liaison to:
- The Assessor’s Office
- Comptroller’s Office
- Engineering Department
- Highway Department
- Refuse Control Department
- Senior Services
- Amherst Chamber of Commerce
- Amherst Fire Chiefs’ Association
- Amherst Industrial Development Agency
- Board of Assessment Review
- Citizens’ Financial Advisory Committee
- Energy Conservation Citizens Advisory Committee
- Erie County Sewer District #5
- Glen Park Joint Board
- Government Study Commission
- Recycling & Waste Committee
- Zoning Board of Appeals
In addition, I have chaired the Eggertsville Task Force and spearheaded projects related to Recycling, Rodent Control & Street Lights.
Still the work is not done. Several current issues can have serious long range budget impacts if not handled properly, including renegotiating expired union contracts, repairs and improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Plant and collection of $30 million due the Town from the State Insurance Fund. As long as I am in office, I will continue to use my expertise to minimize future tax increases without significant reductions in services. This Town is a great place to live. My ultimate goal continues to be to keep it that way by ensuring long-term financial stability for Amherst through diligence, analysis and communication.
